Medicare Part D Quote

Medicare Part D

Part D drug plans add drug coverage to Original Medicare. These plans are provided by private companies that contract with the government. You must have Part A or B in order to sign up for a drug plan. Most drug plans do have a premium and deductible, but rates vary based on location. The annual enrollment period for Part D is Oct 15 through December 7-this is the time you are able to make changes to your plan.

If you do not enroll in Part D during your initial enrollment period, you are subject to a late enrollment penalty that is added to your Part D premium. The penalty is 1% of the national average of the standard plan premium per month that you were eligible for Part D but did not enroll. Even if you are not currently taking any medications at the time of eligibility, we recommend that you enroll in a low-cost plan to avoid paying late penalties later on.If you have creditable coverage through work or the VA, you will not be subject to the late enrollment penalty.

Part D plan benefits vary depending on which plan you choose. The premium, deductible, and copayment costs vary based on different factors such as the medications you are taking, the pharmacy you use, and the plan you choose. Prescriptions are priced according to what “tier” the drug is in. Your out-of-pocket costs may be less at a “preferred pharmacy” because it has agreed with your plan to charge less.

Original Medicare (Parts A & B) partnered with a Medigap plan and Part D plan will cover almost all of your medical expenses with the exception of your Part B deductible, Medigap premiums, and Part D premiums and copayment. Any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare must accept your Medicare Supplement Plan.

If you know a Medicare Supplement with Part D is the way you want to receive your health insurance coverage, and you want to be able to use any doctor or facility that takes Medicare and not have to worry about prior authorization, it is time to request your unbiased report so that we can make a recommendation for you! Navigating the medicare insurance options is not easy. Senior Benefits was extremely helpful. They are very knowledgeable about the benefits/insurance that was available in my county. They were also timely on their responses, helping with forms, etc. I would highly recommend them.
